Labor pain is an unpleasant sensory experience related to actual and potential tissue damage localized to a part of the individual's body at the time of delivery. The impact of labor pain is stress which can cause adrenaline effects. One of the effects of adrenaline is to affect the contraction of blood vessels which has the potential to harm the mother and fetus. Efforts to overcome labor pain include effleurage massage and Mozart classical music therapy. This study aims to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of effleurage massage and Mozart classical music therapy on the pain level of primigravida mothers in the first active phase.
This research is a quantitative study with a quasi experimental design.
The number of samples in this study were 76 respondents who were divided into 2 groups using a random sampling technique. Based on the Mann Whitney test, the results showed that there was a difference in the effectiveness of effleurage massage and Mozart classical music therapy on the pain level of primigravida mothers in the first stage of the active phase with p = 0.000 (<0.05).
