Background: Cancer is a chronic and deadly disease after cardiovascular disease. The most common cancer in women is breast cancer. Patients with this disease will undergo chemotherapy for therapy or treatment of breast cancer patients, chemotherapy has side effects that affect the body both physically
and psychologically. Objective: to find out and prove the relationship between coping mechanisms and self-acceptance in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Method: the design used is cross sectional. The study sample was 35 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy determined
by purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire and data analysis using Spearman rank. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between coping mechanisms and self acceptance in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at RSI Sultan Agung Semarang with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a close relationship of 0.928, which means that it
has a very strong relationship.
Conclusion: There is a relationship between coping mechanisms and self-acceptance in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at the Sultan Agung Hospital, Semarang. The better the coping mechanism or the adaptive coping mechanism, the higher the selfacceptance in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
